Privacy Policy for Image Compressor

Effective date: 10 September 2026
Last updated: 5 October 2026

The short version

Your photos never leave your device. Every photo you open is compressed locally, and the app never uploads, backs up, or sends your images anywhere. There are no accounts.

The app does use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics, such as how many people open the app, which Android versions they use, and how long a session lasts. This helps us find problems and decide what to improve. It does not include your photos, file names, or anything you type.

The app is free and shows a banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob, on the screen that appears after a compression finishes.

Who we are

Image Compressor ("the app") is published by SupeCoder ("we", "us"). The Android package name is com.imagecompressor.imageresizer.mbtokb.

If you have any question about this policy, contact us at anisrahman.contact@gmail.com.

What we collect

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC. When you use the app, Firebase Analytics automatically collects:

• an app-instance identifier generated by Firebase for this installation of the app;
• device information: device model, Android version, screen size, and language;
• approximate location at country and region level, derived by Google from the network address (no GPS or precise location is used);
• usage information: when the app is first opened, when it is updated, session starts and their length, and app version;
• how the app was installed, from the Google Play install referrer.

This data is used only to understand how the app is used and to improve it. It is not sold. We have switched off advertising-ID collection and ad-personalisation signals in Firebase Analytics.

The app does not collect:

• your photos, compressed copies, file names, or photo metadata (EXIF);
• names, email addresses, phone numbers, or accounts;
• precise location.

Google processes the data above as described in its own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and in "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). Data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics settings, after which Google deletes it.

Advertising

The app shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To choose and measure ads, AdMob may collect:

• the Android advertising identifier, and your device's ad-personalisation setting;
• device information such as model, Android version, and language;
• approximate location derived from the network address;
• ad interactions, such as whether an ad was shown or tapped.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy choices in the app. Everywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings under Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).

Ads never receive your photos, file names, or photo metadata. How Google uses this data is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Your photos

When you choose photos, take a picture, or share images into the app:

• All decoding, resizing, and compression happens locally on your device.
• Compressed images are written to the location you pick on your device.
• Temporary working files may be kept briefly in the app's private cache folder while a job runs. They are not visible to other apps and are cleared by the app or by Android as space is needed. Clearing the app's cache in Android Settings removes them immediately.
• Your original photos are never modified or deleted by the app.

We never see, receive, or transmit any of your photos.

Photo metadata (EXIF)

Photos often carry EXIF metadata such as capture date, camera model, and — if your camera saved it — GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken.

By default, the app copies this metadata from the original photo into the compressed copy, so your compressed images keep the same details as the originals. Nothing is sent to us either way; this only affects what is inside the file that stays on your device.

If you plan to share a compressed image publicly and do not want location or camera details travelling with it, turn off the EXIF / "keep metadata" option in the app's compression settings before compressing. The app will then write the image without that metadata.

Information stored on your device

The app keeps a local database and settings file on your device, readable only by the app. This data never leaves your device by our doing. It contains:

• Compression history: for each compression, the file name, the file locations (URIs) of the original and the compressed copy, original and compressed file sizes, original and compressed dimensions, the output format and quality used, how long the job took, the time it happened, and the settings used.
• Your preferences: your chosen default format, quality, resize, metadata, and similar app settings, plus your language and appearance choices.

You can delete individual history entries or clear the entire history from within the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all of this data, and using "Clear storage" in Android's app settings does the same.

Android backup

Android's own backup features may include the app's settings and compression history (the data listed above) in your device backup or in a device-to-device transfer, so your history survives a phone upgrade. Your photos are not part of this — only the records described above. Cached working files are explicitly excluded.

This backup is performed by Android and stored in your own Google account under Google's terms and privacy policy, not ours. We have no access to it. You can turn backup off in Android Settings under Google → Backup.

Permissions the app requests, and why

• Camera (CAMERA): Only if you choose to take a new photo from inside the app. It is optional: the app installs and works on devices without a camera, and is never used in the background.
• Storage (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Android 9 and earlier only): To save compressed copies into your Pictures folder on older Android versions. Newer versions need no permission for this. Photos are opened through the system photo picker, which needs no permission and shows the app only the photos you pick.
• Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used by Firebase Analytics to send the usage statistics described above, and by Google AdMob to load ads. Photos are never sent.
• Advertising ID (AD_ID, and on newer Android versions ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*): Used by Google AdMob to show and measure ads, as described under "Advertising".
• Install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE): Lets Firebase Analytics see how the app was installed (for example, from a Play Store search).
• Wake lock, run at startup (WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Added automatically by Android's standard background task library (WorkManager) and by Firebase, so that unfinished compression jobs can resume and statistics can be sent at a convenient time.

The app does not post notifications and does not run a foreground service.

When you share something yourself

If you use the share button to send a compressed image to another app, or the feedback option to email us, you are handing that content to an app you chose. What happens next is covered by that app's or service's privacy policy.

If you email anisrahman.contact@gmail.com, we will see your email address and whatever you write to us. We use it only to reply to you and to fix the problem you reported, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The only data collected is the usage statistics and advertising data described above. The app shows Google AdMob banner ads (see "Advertising"), and contains no in-app purchases, no accounts, and no external links to user-generated content.

Security

Your photos are never transmitted, so there is no remote copy of them to be breached. Your images and history stay in the app's private storage area, protected by Android's application sandbox and by your device's own lock screen and encryption. Usage statistics are sent to Firebase over an encrypted connection and stored by Google.

Third-party services

The app includes two third-party services from Google: Firebase Analytics, described in "What we collect", and AdMob, described in "Advertising". It is distributed through Google Play, and Google collects its own information about installs and purchases as described in the Google Play and Google Privacy Policies. That collection is Google's, not ours, and we do not receive personal data from it.

Your rights

The usage statistics are tied only to a random app-instance identifier, not to your name or account. If you want the statistics for your installation deleted, email us and we will ask Google to delete the data for that identifier. Uninstalling the app stops all collection and removes the identifier from your device.

You remain in full control of the data on your device and can remove all of it at any time by clearing the app's history or uninstalling the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the version published at https://supeit.blogspot.com/p/privacy-policy-for-image-compressor.html and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
